20-year-old striker reveals the real reason for rejecting Chelsea move in the summer

Samu Omorodion recently talked about the real reason why he snubbed Chelsea move. The 20-year-old came quite close to joining the London side. But, the deal would break down in the final stages. Top clubs were keen to sign him from Atletico Madrid. The Blues were looking for a top class striker all summer. They were wanting to find a replacement for Nicolas Jackson. At the time, he was still finding his feet. Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku was struggling with injuries. As of now, the case is quite different for them. But back then, they were eyeing the 20-year-old striker as a solution to their problems in attack.

Why did Samu Omorodion fail to join Chelsea?

The move was all set to take place. A transfer fee of £34 million was agreed by the two clubs. At the same time, even personal agreements were looking to be final. But, the move would collapse due to a failed medical because of an ankle injury. Although, Samu Omorodion had a slightly different take on why he failed to join Chelsea. As per the striker, the move did not happen, because ‘God didn’t want it’. He simply chose to believe that whatever happened, happened for the best.

Where is the striker now?

The 20-year-old man is currently shining with his new club Porto. As per dailymail, he has made a fantastic start to the season. He has gone on to score 7 goals in as many games for his new club. Considering his recent form, we could see why Chelsea were trying to sign him. Samu Omorodion would have been an absolute menace in the Premier League. Meanwhile, the Blues continue to look for a new striker. Jackson is playing in good form while Nkunku is returning back to his best. But, Chelsea remain keen to sign a quality long-term option to lead the line up front.
