Liverpool’s Need Grows After Defensive Concerns
Liverpool didn’t manage to clinch a last minute deal for Guehi in the summer. Since then their defensive issues have deepened. Giovanni Leoni has suffered a long-term injury. Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation has caused more pressure.
The best clubs in Europe like the idea of signing Guehi on a free but they have to wait until summer to do so. Palace seem to be the only club that can afford to lose a defender and not turn to the transfer market.

Liverpool should be doing everything in their power to get Marc Guehi on board now. Their defense is lacking in authority and the absence of a leader like Guehi has been felt enormously. Their playing style complements each other, and the impact that Guehi would have been immediate. Waiting for a later move will only create more competition and increase the risk of not succeeding.
