AC Milan has been very proactive in the transfer market this summer in an attempt to bolster their squad. The Rossoneri has been looking for players to fill gaps in the squad to ensure the club is well-positioned to defend their title.
Inter Milan and Juventus have strengthened well this summer and hope to topple AC Milan at the top. Meanwhile, arguably with the best transfer window in all of Europe, AS Roma led by Jose Mourinho are also in the hunt for Italian glory. Amidst the increasing threat from fellow title challengers, AC Milan is looking to fill the void in the midfield.
Franck Kessie left the club this summer after his contract expired. The Ivorian international signed for Barcelona to become a part of the Xavi project. However, the Rossoneri has failed to sign a proper replacement for the midfielder. AC Milan has signed Charles De Ketelaere and retained Tomassino Pobega. However, none of the players has the abilities that Franck Kessie possessed.
Joao Gomes has come on the radar of AC Milan
Joao Gomes is a midfielder who plays for Flamengo in the Brazilian league. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been scouting multiple midfielders in the market but no deal has materialized. The executives have now focused their attention on the Brazilian midfielder.
The 21-year-old played 45 games for Flamengo last season as a central or defensive midfielder. The player seems to fit the type of player the club wants to replace Franck Kessie. The transfer is financially lucrative as well since Flamengo will not demand a fee out of proportion.
AC Milan has already failed to sign their preferred targets in this role and the opportunity is good to make the move. The club will reportedly attempt to sign the player this summer. However, the Italian champions need to act fast as the transfer window is going to end very soon!!
