AC Milan is looking for a midfielder in the market to cover for Sandro Tonali

Pioli

AC Milan is looking to start strong in the Serie A season in order to defend their league title. The Rossoneri won the Scudetto after a long time and will hope to repeat the feat this season. Stefano Pioli has strengthened his squad this summer, however, the recent friendly has raised a major concern.

Sandro Tonali walked off the pitch against Vicenza with an injury and went straight down the tunnel. The sight was concerning for fans and the club hierarchy alike. Sandro Tonali was one of the top performers last season and the club will need his midfield capabilities again this season.

Stefano Pioli has expressed his willingness to bring another midfielder to the squad. The primary reason for another midfielder is to afford adequate depth in the squad for the champions. Paolo Maldini and the club executives have identified Raphael Onyedika as the ideal candidate for the position.

Who is Raphael Onyedika and why is AC Milan interested?

Raphael Onyedika is a 21-year-old Nigerian footballer who plays as a midfielder for FC Midtjylland in Danish first division. The young Nigerian prefers to play in a defensive midfield role. However, the player is also capable of playing as a center-back if needed.

The Nigerian has also played further forward for his club in a central midfield role. The player has attracted Paolo Maldini due to his versatility. The midfielder also has some UEFA Champions League experience with the Danish side as they played in the qualification stages this year.

Raphael Onyedika was kicked out of the competition by Portuguese giants, Benfica in the qualification. The midfielder played for the Danish club 22 times in the top flight last season and helped them finish as runners-up. The talented midfielder will be a good addition for the Rossoneri as the Nigerian has time on his hand to developing into a world-class player.
