AC Milan make no progress with Kessie extension

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Franck Kessie could soon be a free agent as contract talks between AC Milan and the player seem to make no progress. The player will have his contract with Milan end in the summer of 2022.

According to Calciomercato, Kessie is not ready to agree to the terms that AC Milan is putting forward. This stalemate means that Kessie could become a free agent and start talks with other clubs in January.

But AC Milan is not ready to let go of one of their main players for free. Hence they could be ready to sell Kessie in the winter transfer window, midway through the season.

AC MILAN TO LOSE KESSIE FOR FREE

Kessie has been an important part of Milan side ever since his move from Atalanta. The defensive midfielder already has 192 appearances for AC Milan across all competitions. During the period he has scored an impressive 31 goals.

The Ivorian is currently asking €7m per year deal to sign an extension. But Milan is not ready to pay such money for Kessie. With the contract talks at an impasse, the chances for the 24-year-old to move away from San Siro is very high.

Many clubs have been alerted to the contract situation of the player. Tottenham Hotspur has been linked with Kessie in the summer window and they will be looking to renew their interest in him. Apart from that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all monitoring the situation.

AC Milan does not want to sell Kessie, but with no progress could be forced to sell him in January. Currently Manchester United could become the front runner, with the club having issues in the defensive midfield position. But whether clubs will look to pay the transfer fee or wait till the next summer is the biggest question ahead.
