AC Milan might solve Damsgaard deal with counterpart

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

AC Milan‘s busy transfer window continues as they now look to sign Mikkel Damsgaard. Milan want to strengthen their squad after losing out the title last season mainly due to lack of squad depth. The club’s board have announced the positions they are looking out for and a winger is in the mix.

Damsgaard is currently with the Denmark national team giving every reason why the Rossoneri should be signing next season. He has bagged a goal and an assist in the 3 games he has played. At Sampdoria, he scored 2 and grabbed 4 assists in 35 games. Barcelona and West Ham are reportedly after him as well.

With the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu, Milan will be looking for some creativity in the final third. With an array of young stars at their disposal, Milan are clearly aiming to create a system that will last. Technical Director and Italian Legend, Paulo Maldini, who came up through the clubs youth system knows all the pros of growing into a club like AC Milan.

How will Damsgaard fit in Milan?

A versatile player that can play in multiple positions, Damsgaard will be a big boost to a club that has struggled with good second fiddles. He will fit in Stephano Pioli’s 4-3-2-1 playing on either wings or number 10.

Sampdoria spent €6 million to sign Damsgaard and the club president has valued the player at €30-€50 million. Milan is interested in the player but like most of their targets, the price-tag has made them think twice. Milan will not participate in any auction to sign the player.

A Counterpart in the deal

Parma’s Manager, Roberto D’Aversa is set to become the head coach of Sampdoria. Andrea Conti spent the season on loan from Milan at Parma on D’Aversa’s request. Milan could lower the fee on Damsgaard offering Conti as a counterpart.

Still 20, Damsgaard can learn a lot at Milan. With the experience of Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the forward line-up, Damsgaard could become a pivotal player at Milan.
