AC Milan shifting their attention to Ellyes Skhiri

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Italian giants AC Milan are now shifting their attention to FC Koln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri. The sudden change in direction is after the move for Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch seem to have stalled.

Milan are looking to strengthen their squad in preparation for the new season. Skhiri could fill in at the defensive midfield role, which the club is trying to expand.

According to the German outlet Bild, the agent of Skhiri has already met AC Milan management. While discussions are ongoing, Koln is demanding €15m for their player.

SKHIRI AN UNLIKELY CHOICE FOR MILAN

Milan have been in search of a defensive midfielder, even though the club have Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali in their ranks. They have been linked with Chelsea outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko in recent weeks.

However, the new move to Skhiri is reported to be because of stalling in talks with Grillitsch of Hoffenheim. Skhiri has been consistent for Koln last season. He appeared 32 times for them in the Bundesliga and managed to score 5 and assisted for 3 goals.

The Tunisian is a good interceptor of the ball. Apart from the defensive midfield role, he can also play at the back as well. Skhiri is also good at tackling and is a decent passer. He has also played 36 times for his national team during his career.

Whether Milan will complete the move is not sure at the moment. With Koln demanding €15m, and other alternatives available chances are dim. But as this transfer window has shown already, nothing is impossible.
