AC Milan sign Fode Ballo-Toure from AS Monaco

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Fode Ballo-Toure becomes AC Milan 5th signing this summer. The Senegalese International has been in the French National side during his U-16 and U-21 days. Milan are steamrolling all across Europe hunting down the best player and best deals. They plan to make many more and Fode could be just a start.

Fode was initially a left-winger in his academy days at PSG. He however moved to left-back to make bolting runs down the wing and through the lines. AC Milan lost out on the Scudetto last season mainly on the account of lack of squad depth. Theo Hernandez is an integral part of the group and Fode would be the ideal candidate to replace him.

Much like Theo Hernandez, Fode spends most of his game attacking than defending. He will play second-fiddle though, Hernandez is much more lethal in front of goal. Fode can grow into the team and if he proves himself, Hernandez can be played higher up the pitch.

Fode to Milan: Details

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Fode Ballo-Toure from AS Monaco. The defender has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2025 and will be wearing the number 5 jersey – AC Milan.

Fode has been signed for €4 million-plus bonuses. The deal may go up to €8 million including add-ons based on performance. Donning the jersey number once worn by club legend Alessandro Costacurta, Fode will look to make the best of his chances and unleash the beast.

Career so far

Fode has spent most of his career so far in France. After his contract at PSG expired in 2017, Lille signed him up amidst a few complications. In 2019, Monaco signed him for €11 million-plus bonuses.

At 24, he is at his peak and AC Milan will provide him with enough competition to improve his game. He will have to improve his output in front of goal but that is not a concern as long as you have 2 acrobatic grand-dads upfront.
