Adama Traore’s jersey number was announced in a press conference yesterday. Adama made a dream comeback to his boyhood club FC Barcelona in the winter transfer window. On November 23, 2013, Adama made his debut with the first team. 9 years later, he will now wear the iconic number 11 jersey for FC Barcelona.
The number 11 for FC Barcelona has previously been worn by some iconic players such as Neymar Jr, Rivaldo, and Marc Overmars. Adama Traoré certainly has big boots to fill in as we head into the second half of the season.
The pacy and muscular winger made a name for himself in the Premier League, due to his burst of runs. He completed 102 dribbles in 1066 minutes. However, there is still a lot to work on when it comes to his end product. The winger has registered only a single assist in 20 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
❝ Barcelona has always been my home. I’m excited to be back and I’m ready to help the team ❞– Adama
The Spaniard will hope to overturn his fortunes from the first half of the season. He will have home comfort and backing from the Blaugrana to push him to reach new levels. FC Barcelona still has all to play for in the UEFA Europa League. They are also in the race for a top 4 finish and qualifying for the Champions League is considered to be the bare minimum at this club.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona have left out Dani Alves from their Europa League squad as they were only allowed to register 3 new signings as Adama made the cut. Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, and Adama Traoré have all been registered.
