AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022: Venues examined

The venues to be used for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 have been successfully overseen by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) representatives.

A delegate from the AFC stopped by in India between September 16 to 21, 2021 to inspect the three assigned venues.

The inspection was a success. The advancement of the facilities offered were enough to please the delegates from the body of football in Asia. The Women’s Asian Cup is Asia’s flagship women’s tournament. 

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 looks promising

For the 2022 edition of the tournament, a set of three venues have been picked. The venues are the Mumbai Football Arena – Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune. 

The respective authorities assured the delegates that preparations were already afoot. Tentatively, they expected completion before the start of the tournament. 

The deputies took note of the progress at the new training sites. These areas are in development for the tournament at Pune and Kharghar.

Members of the India 2022 Local Organising Committee chaperoned the delegates from the AFC. The success of the inspection marks a noteworthy milestone. It puts forward India’s capabilities in successfully hosting the multi-nation event. 

India 2022 will present 12 teams for the first time in almost 20 years. It will also stand as the ultimate stage of Asian qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. 

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 qualifiers are already underway. Starting from January 20 till February 6, the tournament will take place.
