AIFF agrees on terms with BeIn Sports to Telecast the Friendlies in India

The Indian National Football Team will be back in action after almost 16 months. They last played an international fixture in November 2019. India will face Oman on Thursday, 25th March in an international friendly. Again, on Monday, 29th March, India will face UAE in another international friendly. AIFF has stated that they are confident about finding a suitable telecasting channel for the upcoming friendlies.

Indian Football popularity has risen high in the past few years. It has a large fanbase now and they deserve to witness the match, especially after the pandemic.

But there hasn’t been any confirm news about the broadcast of the two matches in India. There was a recent Twitter trend, #AIFFWakeUp, urging the Indian officials to arrange a broadcast in India.

It has now been learned that the All India Football Federation is in talks with BeIn sports for the telecasting rights. However, However, there hasn’t been any confirmation on which channel will broadcast in India, as Star Sports wrote on Twitter that they don’t have any rights to telecast the two matches. But, AIFF is confident to find some solution and broadcast the matches in India.

The main matter of concern is the telecasting of match against Oman. There are technical issues with Oman TV as it uplinks to Arabsat, which cannot be downlinked in India but it has been understood that AIFF is trying to sort out the situatiion and they will find some way to telecast it in India and some solution wil be out in the next couple of days.

“We’re very confident,” said the AIFF general secretary. “We were in touch with the officials since the fixtures were announced” he further added. “Our worry is the about the match being played against Oman, It’s being played in UAE the broadcast rights are with BeIn and the production is done by Oman Tv”.
