The 26-year-old boasted a promising defense as a right-back in Spain 4 years ago. Everything went south after he failed to establish a spot in Real’s playing XI. Nothing went right for the defender since joining the Los Blancos back in 2018.
He was later on loaned out to reigning German champions Bayern Munich but unfortunately, that didn’t work out too. The only thing that worked out well in Bavaria is that he registered a Champions League title to his name.
Alvaro Odriozola current status
Last summer, Madrid sent Odriozola out again on loan for the second time. This time he did well for Fiorentina, contributing one goal and one assist in 27 games.
The Spanish defender this month is set to return to Real Madrid. But sadly his future at the Santiago Bernabeu remains uncertain.
Odriozola appeared in 27 games in all competitions in 2021-22, scoring once and assisting twice. These numbers also include some impressive goal interceptions for the defense. Alvaro clearly had a decent time playing for Florentina this year before his Madrid return.
Inter Milan’s interest in Odriozola
Serie A giants Inter Milan look keen on signing the defender after a price tag of €20 million. Complications in the Nerrazzuri’s right-back position have bothered them to look for a new defender.
With Denzel Dumfries being linked to Bayern Munich and Manchester United, things remain uncertain at the San Siro. However, Inter Milan’s inability to finance Odriozola’s €4 million-per-year salary might be a stumbling block.
If the Nerrazzuri tightens up their interest in the defender, he would most likely have to cut his pay to transfer to San Siro.
