Andrea Sottil makes a come back as a Udinese manager

Andrea Sottil returns to the Dacia Arena as a manager after leaving the club as a player back in 2003.

Sottil, who appeared 115 times for Udinese from 1999 to 2003 and scored seven goals, departed Ascoli on Monday. In addition, he led them to the Serie B play-offs in his only full season in command. The Italian has agreed to a year’s contract that would keep him bound to the club until 2023.

Andrea returns to the Bianconeri family after defending their colors as a footballer for four seasons. He made 115 appearances and scored seven goals in Serie A, UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia, and Intertoto. He also contributed to memorable moments in Zebretta history such as the Intertoto victory and two European qualifiers.

Sottil has a commitment for the next season, also with the possibility to remain for an additional year. The club stated this provision in the press conference that his arrival, which was complemented with a unique photograph of him and received a lot of feedback on social media.

“Udinese Calcio is pleased to welcome back Andrea Sottil. He is the new first-team coach: he has signed a contract that binds him to the club until 30th June 2023 with an option to extend it for the following season. For Andrea, this is his return to the family after having defended our colors with great performance also as a footballer for four seasons,”

the club official told the press.

Udinese was pleased to see their former player come back and contribute to the badge. Sottil has been of significant use in Bianconeri‘s history back in the 1993 season. Fans this time expect their club legend to perform well on the sidelines as well.
