Anel Ahmedhodzic has drawn the attention of several big clubs, particularly Chelsea, after he helped Malmo FF win the Allsvenskan last weekend. The centre-back has represented Sweden at U-17, U-19, U-21, and senior level.
The 21-year-old has played in 38 matches for Malmo this season, which includes 6 continental appearances. The 2020/21 Allsvenskan champions have lost just 3 games in the league all season and conceded the least goals out of all clubs in Sweden. This is largely down to Ahmedhodzic, who has been the only regular starter at centre-back for Malmo.
Ahmedhodzic spent 3 years in England when he left his boyhood club Malmo to join two-time European Cup winners Nottingham Forrest as a 17-year-old.
The Bosnian defender only made one senior start for Nottingham and returned to Malmo in 2019. Ahmedhodzic is now reportedly interested in a return to England, this time in the Premier League.
Anel’s dad Mirsad accuses foul play by agent Rosenberg
Anel Ahmedhodzic’s father believes that Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is ready to submit an offer for the Bosnian youngster, but agent Markus Rosenberg, former Malmo and Swede international, is foiling the deal.
“He (Rosenberg) is not doing his job. He has told Marina at Chelsea that Anel is not going there. Anel wants to go abroad after the season finishes”Mirsad Ahmedhodzic on son Anel’s ambitions.
The defender’s father also ranted on social media accusing Rosenberg of trying to alienate his son from him. Anel replied to his father’s comments by saying that he did not feel he gets the support that he needs from his father.
“I can start by saying that I am very disappointed. To write such things on social media and call other people idiots, not to support me. I have always felt a love for him. But I have not felt any support, he has not supported me in the right way. But as you can see. My dad’s not there.Anel Ahmedhodzic talking about his father to Kvallsposten.
Chelsea want to table a £6.9 million bid for Anel Ahmedhodzic, PSV, and Milan also interested
The Blues are looking to table a bid in the region of £6.9 million as Frank Lampard aims to bolster his defence. Lampard has alienated Antonio Rudiger this season, who seems to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. Centre-back remains the only position where Chelsea could strengthen after spending upwards of £200 million this summer.
The Allsvenskan scheduled to end in the first week of December. This gives the Bosnian ample time to decide on a move before the January transfer window opens. If we are to believe the rumors, the Malmo centre-back will make his way to Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.
Around 4 Chelsea players rumored to leave, London giants will have a further impetus to pursue Anel Ahmedhodzic.
