Spanish Left-back Angelino to giants Barcelona is now cited as a potential move this summer. The 5 times European Champions have not shown much of an interest in Angelino with his high price tag. But Barcelona will be eager to get the Leipzig left back for a bargain price. Angelino is also eager for a return to his homeland Spain and Barcelona will be the best option possibly. The Catalan giants are in need of an experienced Left back who can provide competition to Jordi Alba.
Angelino came in the summer of 2020 to Leipzig. Since then he has been ever impressive for the German side with 12 goals and 28 assists for them. These kinds of stats have attracted big clubs all around Europe for the past couple of seasons. But Leipzig were not ready to let Angelino go earlier. But now they have opened up talks with various clubs to let Angelino leave as he will not be a starter anymore.
David Raum has taken Angelino’s place at Leipzig. The former Hoffenheim left-back signed for Leipzig this year and will be starting over Angelino. The 25-year-old Spanish left-back is now surplus to the requirements of the German club. Angelino will be a great addition to Xavi’s side and can provide great competition to Jordi Alba.
Alonso or Angelino, Who will Xavi choose?
Angelino is not the only left-back linked with rumors of going to Barcelona. Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is linked with the Catalan club for months now. Xavi is desperate to bring in quality and experienced left-back to provide squad depth. Marcos Alonso at this moment seems to be closer to Barcelona than Angelino. Javi Galan and Jose Gaya are the left-backs that Barcelona are looking into.
Alejandro Balde is still fairly young and inexperienced as Xavi says. The legendary midfielder believes that they cannot progress into the season with just Jordi Alba at Left back. With Balde not yet trusted, a left-back is now the priority for the Catalans. Whether it will be Alonso or Gaya or Angelino, it will bring great quality at the club.
