Manchester United are working on potential swap deal, as talks for Antony take new shape.
Will Antony be playing for Manchester United again ?
After struggling at Old Trafford, Antony has got his best form back in Spain for Real Betis. The Brazilian winger has managed to score five goals and give four assists in just 18 games.
He joined for a massive £86m in 2022 from Ajax. His form has impressed Betis’ board so much that club president Angel Haro is personally backing a permanent deal.
However, Red Devils‘ asking price of around €50m (£42.8m) is an issue for the Spanish side. They also have a battle for Champions League qualification. To work around this, the Red Devils are now working on a player swap deal. This may include Betis players Jesus Rodriguez and Johnny Cardoso. Johnny is most likely their top priority as things stand.
A swap deal is in works
Ruben Amorim is open to selling Antony permanently this summer. In addition, they are hoping on securing American midfielder Johnny Cardoso’s move. Despite only joining the La Liga side in January 2024, Johnny has become a standout performer for the Spanish club. He has four goals to his name this season.
Sources report that Utd have been closely monitoring the 23-year-old in the recent weeks. In fact, Amorim’s side are pushing Pellegrini’s side to cancel a prior agreement with Spurs. And in exchange, we can include Cardoso in any Antony deal.
This move will help both the clubs. Betis can secure a in-form winger while United get a midfield engine who fits Amorim’s system. Beyond this, United’s summer plans are heating up.
A €100m double transfer for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Yann Bisseck is a possibility Meanwhile, Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen are also linked with Utd with a move.
