Araujo might showcase his leadership prowess next season

Busquets stated his intention to quit Barça earlier this month, whereas Alba’s exit was only recently disclosed. With two club pillars poised to depart, manager Xavi Hernandez is bound to face significant squad issues in some role, particularly in the leadership unit. After all, Busquets and Alba were this season’s club captains.

In the aftermath of their departure, Toni Juanmarti (via Reshad Rahman) reports that Ronald Araujo will be one of Barcelona’s captains next season. Sergi Roberto is certain to be club’s first captain as a result of Busquets’ departure. Alba, the third captain, would have replaced the dynamic right-back. But he’s also departing, so fourth captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen will take over as second skipper. It leaves two open positions in Barcelona’s leadership group. Hence Juanmarti claims that one of them will almost probably be Barca defender, Araujo.

The 24-year-old has proven that he has the prowess to take on leadership role. He has developed into one of Xavi’s most important players at the club. The Uruguayan international has demonstrated his leadership abilities on the field on numerous times. Hence awarding him the armband would be well-deserving. Aside from Araujo, Robert Lewandowski can also lead the team. Also Frenkie de Jong could be a option after leading the squad for a period against Real Valladolid last night.
