ARMANDO BROJA TIME AT CHELSEA
The English born Albanian international joined Chelsea academy when he was ten. After impressive youth career Broja signed his first pro contract with Chelsea in 2020. His time at Chelsea constitute three loan stints, a long term injury and limited playing time. The first two loan stints where impressive enough to earn him a contract extension until 2028. Pochettino was impressed with his loan stint with Southampton and kept his faith on him for the 2023-24 season. Unlucky to say an ACL injury during the international break for 2022 World Cup hindered his progress.
Chelsea thought about offloading him in january but the hefty price tag attracted less interest. In an attempt to increase his value, they sent Broja on loan to Fulham, which turned out disastrous. Striker’s playing time was limitted to only 80 minutes under Marco Silva. He is back at Chelsea now but is likely to move away this summer.
FUTURE?
Broja scored two goals last season but was sidelined for most part with an ACL injury he picked up against Villa in a friendly. After moving to Fulham, the striker received limited minutes in the Premier League. A total of 8 appearences during his time at Creven cottage with no goals scored. He was tipped with a move away in january but his 50 M pounds price tag was very high. Broja was in the pre-season squad for Chelsea despite having a bad Euro 2024 campaign. The limited time for him in pre-season shows that he is out of favour under Enzo Maresca.
As per The Telegraph, Broja is training with the Chelsea development squad and has been attracting interests from various clubs in England and abroad. In addition to that Pedro Neto has been handed his number 19 shirt sparking further transfer rumours.
It is clear that Chelsea want him to leave. As of now, a permanent transfer away from the bridge is the priority but it might change heading towards the deadline day. His time at the bridge is close to end with Nicolas Jackson favoured to be at striker for Maresca. In addition to that, they are also pursuing a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.
