“Arrest Todd Boehly” – Fans infuriated with Chelsea owner

Fans are raging fury at Chelsea owner Todd Boehly. The Blues recently agreed to sell Deivid Washington to Strasbourg. They were able to get £18 million for the 19-year-old Brazilian. The London side was able to sell him for quite a lot of money. Especially considering that he has barely played for them. Without a doubt, the 19-year-old is an unproven player. Some may consider this as a brilliant bit of business from the Blues. But, as per goal.com, fans are instead aiming their fury at Boehly. The problem being that Strasbourg is actually also owned by the American. So, in turn, it has resulted in the fans being mad at him.

Did Todd Boehly did the right thing for Chelsea?

The problem here is not just that he sold the player to a different club that he owns. But he rather chose to do it for a higher amount. Fans are straight away accusing Todd Boehly of ‘laundering’ the money for Chelsea. One might understand Boehly’s actions from a financial point of view. He wants his team to comply with the PSR rules and avoid punishment. But to market players between clubs like that seems really unethical. We, at footballexpress.in, certainly think the same.

Will there be any consequences?

The problem becomes much more serious when you realize that Washington even failed to secure a loan move in the summer. And now, suddenly, the 19-year-old is joining the French Club for a £18 million record transfer. Chelsea and Todd Boehly will be walking on thin ice now. If, in any way, they are found guilty of breaching the FFP rules, they could face severe punishment. Just last season, we saw Everton get an 8-point deduction in the Premier League for breaking PSR rules. If not punished, this could prove to be Boehly’s masterful stroke. Otherwise, the Blues will be in big trouble heading into the 24/25 season.
