Both Arsenal and Chelsea are looking to improve their current squad next year. The Blues want to improve their defence as their attack is already performing very well. The situation is reverse for Gunners who have a very strong defence but are still interested to improve it further. Both of the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on Joao Pedro Chermont who plays for Santos FC.
JP Chermont is 18 years old Brazilian player who plays as a right back for Santos FC. He has a £58 million release clause but his price may now drop. This is because Santos are relegated and are in need to sell the players to get their finances in right order.
JP Chermont is a highly talented player and is looked upon by many top clubs. Along with Arsenal and Chelsea, he is also looked upon by Everton and Wolves. Outside England, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen to sign the youngster.
Arsenal and Chelsea ready to send opening bids for Joao Pedro Chermont
As per CaughtOffside, both of the Premier League giants are now ready to send an opening bid to Santos. The reports also states that both the clubs are already in talks with player’s inner circle.
Gunners already have Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber to play on the right side. But they will like to have another option for a situation like yesterday. Due to unavailability of all three names, Mikel Arteta was forced to use Thomas Partey in unnatural position.
As for Chelsea, they are in desperate need of right back. Their captain who is first choice right back has been injury prone in the recent seasons. He has not played a single game this season and also missed most of the last season due to injury. Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana and Axel Disasi are the current players used by Maresca in that position.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea will face heavy competition from Real Madrid. Madrid have been linked with James and Alexander-Arnold as the replacements for Dani Carvajal. Yesterday, Carvajal has faced a serious injury and is set to be sidelined until the end of season. Los Blancos will like to find a quick solution for him and may be seen going after JP Chermont soon.
