Arsenal viewed Calafiori as their potential new defender due to his versatility. Calafiori plays mainly as centre defender but is equally effective as left back. Arteta will very likely use Calafiori as left back next season. Calafiori will wear jersey number 33 in the 2024/25 season.

Sporting director Edu said that they signed Calafiori as a part of their plan. He added that the defender is still 22 but has quality and experience. Edu has trust in Riccardo and thinks that he will grow as an Arsenal player. In the end, Edu said that Mikel Arteta and other coaches are looking forward to work with Calafiori.

Calafiori said that signing the contract completed his childhood dream. There was a photo of young Riccardo in Gunners jersey which went viral recently. Calafiori started by saying that it feels very good. He added it was hard to get here, but now he is finally an Arsenal player. Calafiori was very excited to train with his new teammates. He added that Jorginho is a really nice guy and forced him to join Arsenal. Jorginho told Calafiori to come to Arsenal as it is a really nice club. He added that the team and the staff are very good.
