Arsenal battling Real Madrid for ‘excellent’ £21m player

Arsenal is fighting some of Europe’s top clubs this summer to land some important signings.

After another continuous title charge in 2024/25, the Gunners once again gear up for this season. The summer transfer window has been open for more than four weeks now. Yet, the Mikel Arteta-led side is waiting for their first new transfer to arrive in North London.

Meanwhile, the side continues its hustle to sign players. The Emirates are eyeing a few players but the deal isn’t going the right way for now. Arsenal still eyes Riccardo Calafiori as their top target. However, the deal with the Italian defender doesn’t seem to get over the line anytime soon.

It is reported that Calafiori has agreed to a five-year contract with the Gunners. Meanwhile, the negotiations with his club, Bologna, continue. The talks are expected to take some more effort and time.

More potential players are also on the list for Arteta and Edu. However, they are finding themselves competing with some of the top sides of Europe this summer.

Arsenal transfer news – Nico Williams

An example of Arsenal fighting other top clubs is Nico Williams. The Spaniard, unsurprisingly, is on the hit list of many top clubs. Arsenal will be battling Barcelona to sign Nico Williams.

Nico Williams remains an important transfer target for Arsenal this summer, but there is more news. The Gunners are also eyeing another player.

Mikel Arteta wants to secure every department this summer. Keeping that in mind, Arteta is also eyeing to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. And the target of Gunners is being pursued by another top club.

As per reports from Javier de Haro of COPE, Arsenal is in the market to fight Real Madrid over Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Both sides are reportedly showing interest in signing the Spanish keeper.

This means Artea is fighting two biggest clubs in Spain for two different players!

Nevertheless, signing Gracia doesn’t seem viable for Real Madrid. The ‘excellent’ keeper comes with a reported price tag of €25m (£21m). At the moment it does not seem like Madrid will be willing to pay that much money for the release. Further, paying that much amount for a backup keeper will be expensive.

Another good thing for Arsenal is Gracia’s interest. It is believed that the Espanyol keeper is interested in joining Arsenal. If the Gunners make an offer, they might have a chance of bagging the 23-year-old.

Gunners are in the hunt for a Goalkeeper this summer

Aaron Ramsdale is expected to make a move from Arsenal this summer. Gunners are thinking of Gracia as a replacement.

However, Arteta is not just interested in bringing in a number two keeper. It seems the Spanish manager has more on his mind this summer.

Arsenal has scheduled a medical for Ajax keeper Charlie Setford as per reports. Also, the terms between the clubs are said to be agreed.

After the attempts to sign Dan Bentley fell short earlier this month, this is news for the Gunners. Wolves and Arsenal couldn’t agree earlier this month for Daniel Bentley.

These signings are not expected to have that great impact on the title challenge for the Gunners. However, we can expect some big changes between the sticks.
