Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta desperately wants to sign one particular Spanish winger. However, it is believed that this will be extremely difficult for Gunners to go ahead with the deal.
Gunners are open to signing new stars this month. They are keen to sign a winger and a striker. Bukayo Saka recently underwent surgery making winger a top priority for the club.
The North London club have been linked with many wingers recently. One of them is from Spain and Arsenal boss is huge fan of him. In addition, the winger is young and on radar of Gunners since long time.
Arsenal keen to sign Spanish winger
The winger in question here is 22 year old Nico Williams. Williams first became target of Gunners in summer after impressing them with his performances for the Spain national team.
Journalist David Ornstein has now reported that Mikel Arteta is keen to sign Williams this month. He is ready to take the next step and make Williams a quality replacement for Saka. Once Saka returns, the 22 year old can replace Martinelli on his preferred left wing.
However, Ornstein has added that it will be very difficult for Gunners to sign Williams this month. It is because the player has €58 million release clause. In addition, his high wages makes the deal even more hard.
Athletic Club are happy with Williams and are unwilling to part ways with him. Hence, the only options remains is paying his full release clause. This makes winter scoop very hard and hence we may see Williams taking next step in summer.
Along with Williams, Gunners do have other options in market. They are big fans of Matheus Cunha of Wolves. However, he too is very hard to get in winter window. In addition, there are talks about the Brazilian signing a new contract.
