Arsenal & Chelsea receive massive blow in pursuit of Spanish star

Arsenal and Chelsea have received a massive blow in the pursuit of Spanish attacker ahead of summer window. The player is also looked upon by Barcelona who too are handed the blow.

The star in question here is Nico Williams of Athletic Club. He is 22 years old and plays for Spain on national level. He has been unstoppable in recent season which have him linked with some top clubs across the whole Europe.

Williams had an amazing Euro 2024 tournament. He helped Spain to lift their 4th European title by scoring in the final. This resulted in Arsenal and Barcelona trying to sign him last summer. But, none were able to convince the player who opted to stay at Bilbao.

Williams is still wanted by Arsenal as they want him to replace Martinelli. On the other hand, Barca are aslo showing interest despite being a deadly attacking unit. In addition, Chelsea have also joined the race as they want to improve their left side of final third.

According to TeleBilbao via Estadio Deportivo, Williams is set to reject offers from all interested clubs. Instead he is set to sign a lifetime contract at Bilbao. This will later increase his release clause which can he hard for the interested clubs to trigger.

Arsenal will still try and convince Williams to join them. They rate him very highly and is preferred target of Mikel Arteta. Earlier, there were reports that the 22 year old wants to be the highest earner at North London. But, the club are unwilling to offer him that privilege just yet.

On the other hand, Chelsea have many other options available. As of now, they are linked with Jamie Gittens and Rafael Leao. Lastly, Barca have Raphinha as left winger right now who is in the form of his life. Hence, they may opt to not make any signings for that area this summer.
