Arsenal Chiefs to Back Arteta in January Transfer Window

Arsenal find themselves in a relegation battle after a horrific start to the season, expected to initiate an impactful rival for the January Transfers.

After an impressive 3-0 opening day win at Craven Cottage, Gunners looked like a team capable of challenging for Top 4. Fast forward two months, things haven’t gone the Gunner’s way. Instead of challenging for the top 4, Arsenal finds themselves closer to the bottom of the table. With 4 wins in the opening 14 games, this is Arsenal’s worst start in the last 50-years.

Arsenal is without a win in the last seven Premier League games. With a defeat to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, Mikel Arteta faces a huge uphill task for rebuilding. Arsenal’s main problem this season seems to be creativity from midfield. With Mesut Ozil frozen out, Arsenal lacks a creative midfielder to produce chances for attackers.

Arsenal Plans For January to make most out of the squad

Arsenal was creating 2.3 big chances per game under Unai Emery, but that dropped to 1.8 last year and now 1.5 in 2020-21. Arsenal has only created 21 big chances, which puts Arteta’s men in a tie for 14th in the top flight which is nowhere close to where Arsenal’s Ambition lies.

“It’s quite clear what we need. We need a player with creativity in the middle, we don’t have that in the squad right now.”

Edu Gaspar- Arsenal’s technical director

The planning is done, what we want to do in January and in the summer. Edu is dealing with that at the moment and I’m focused on all the games, we don’t have much time to spend energy now on that because it’s very clear what we want to do.

“My job is to make the most out of this squad, the players that we have.

Arsenal Manager- Mikel Arteta

Arsenal has Mesut Ozil at their disposal. But it looks highly unlikely that Gunners will recall the German Midfielder. The first thing Arsenal should attempt is to trim their squad. Arsenal already has an unusually large squad, will multiple players not even registered due to this. Players like Kolasinac, Mustafi, Sokratis are all linked with a move away from Emirates..

Arsenal has been linked with a swap move for Eriksen with Inter Milan for Granit Xhaka. Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Norwich’s Emiliano Buendia are other players on Arsenal’s transfer list. Before any signings Gunners make, they need to ship-off the “deadwood” in the squad.

Arsenal currently sits at 15th place in the Premier League before hosting Chelsea at Emirates on Boxing Day.
