Arsenal consider matchday rule change after McGregor incident

Arsenal will make some changes in the rules of how fans and guests interact with their players.

UFC legend Conor McGregor had attended that Champions League match at the Emirates Stadium. There was a pitch-side incident concerning the Arsenal players. Conor came to support the Gunners on match day 2 of the Champions League.

McGregor reportedly entered the pitch post-game to celebrate the victory after Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain. The UFC fighter entered the pitch even after he was told to return to the stands. He was involved with the players without any permission.

Conor was taking photos with Arsenal players. He was casually sparring with Bukayo Saka which concerned some fans and management.

He took photos with Declan Rice and was playfighting with Saka. In the video footage that is circulating on social media, it is visible what the Irish fighter was doing. The UFC star kicked Saka and attempted to grapple him on the pitch. Saka said with a laugh ‘be careful man’.

According to the Times, Arsenal are furious about how Conor entered the pitch. They are ready to launch an internal review of the incident. Club reports state that McGregor did not get back into the Emirates stadium. He was denied entry on the ground.

The Irish fighter is a VIP member of a third-party firm, Acess1. This firm is a third-party organization that allows VIP access to sporting events to the rich and famous.

Arsenal boss and management are not very happy with the McGregor incident

Arsenal management and the manager Mikel Arteta are furious at how Conor McGregor interacted with their squad members.

Arteta feels that the moves that Mcgregor tried on Saka were dangerous because they could have been serious. Arteta’s squad are already short on men and another injury would add to their problems. The Premier clubs are going on a sensible approach and want to avoid any further injuries.

The Arsenal management is looking for arrangements for players to interact with corporate guests after the match. The club will also distance itself from the McGregor ‘brand’. Connor has recently apologized on his Instagram story and said that he will be more careful of the rules.

The Gunners currently sit there on the Premier League table and are on a 10-beaten unbeaten streak. They will look to avoid any such bizarre incident ahead. Arsenal will host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium in their next fixture of the Champions League.

The Gunners will look to continue their winning streak

Arsenal have maintained their winning streak after returning to their Premier League duties. These points will be crucial for the team.

Bukayo Saka assisted Kai Havetz and Gabriel Martinelli in scoring the first two goals. The English forward scored himself in the 88th minute. Southampton was the first to get on the scoresheet.

Saints were unable to keep the lead as Havertz soon equalized. Southampton fell into the backseat as soon as Arsenal’s equalizer. Arteta’s squad had most of the possession and was threatful on the ball. The manager appreciated his team’s reaction after Southampton took the lead, in the post-match press conference he said-

“The team reacted incredibly well. A lot of composure and a big belief in what we had to do”.

The coach has shown belief in his young players. While talking about Saka he said that he has been in the team for a long time. He knows what to do and when to do it. He added that the English forward is a big game player and is very mature for his age.

Arsenal face Bournemouth next in the Premier League after the international break. Gunners will look to secure these brownie points to compete for the top spot in the English League. They currently sit in the third position of the table with 17 points just below title rivals Manchester City.

Liverpool currently sit on top of the table and have won all of their games. The matches will only get tougher as the competition progresses. These points gained against small teams will help these giants maintain their positions.

Arsenal fell just short of the title last season. They were just three points behind the current title holders. Arteta is confident that this season will be different, and they will win trophies. The recent performance of the team has been an example of how they have a chance to win titles this season.
