Arsenal considering a move away for the academy graduate

In the final days of the transfer window Arsenal are getting bids for the 24 year old academy graduate Reiss Nelson. Arteta have already mentioned in the past that they don’t see him as a key player of their plans.

While Arsenal will be accepting bids for him, it is important for them to consider options to replace Nelson as it could create shortage in the attacking lineup.

The Gunners have extraordinary forwards like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. But they will be competing in 4 different competitions in 2024-25 season including the Champions League which will be adapting the “Swiss model”. So a very long season awaits for the Gunners and having various options in the attacking buildup will add flexibility to the squad.

It will be a interesting final day of the window for Arsenal as they have to consider every aspects quickly.

Premier league clubs aiming for Nelson

English clubs West Ham and Leicester are the few clubs interested in Nelson but Fulham are looking serious to pull of the deal.

Despite losing important players such as Joao Palhinha, Tosin Adarabioyo and Marco Silva, the Cottagers have succeeded in acquiring impressive new signings like Emile Smith Rowe, Joachim Anderson and Sander Berge. However, they are still in need of more attacking firepower, which is why they are considering to bring in Reiss Nelson.

Arsenal will be accepting bids for the academy graduate at around £20 million, including add-ons as per TheHardTackle, but they will also consider to bring in another winger to balance the squad.

Fulham have been a mid table team since the last 3-4 seasons, so it will be a wonderful opportunity for Nelson to step up and help them win.

Nelson have only got very less opportunities in the past few years as he got overshadowed by his world class teammates. A transfer to Fulham would be a perfect opportunity for Nelson to show his talent in the premiere league. If the transfer do happens, he will be teaming up with his former Arsenal teammate Smith Rowe.

What should Arsenal do?

The Gunners would get a great profit by selling Nelson as he came through the Arsenal academy. The English winger have only managed to score 8 goals in 122 appearances for the Gunners since he joined the first team-squad in 2017.

Arsenal sent him to Hoffenheim on loan due to poor performances in 2018-19 season. He bagged 7 goals in 23 appearances in Germany convincing the newly appointed manager Arteta to bring him back to London.

But Arteta couldn’t use him regularly due to injury problems and the Gunners again sent him on loan to Feyenoord in the dutch league. He made a positive impact in Netherlands and they brought him back again, but the poor performances and injuries continued to haunt Nelson and eventually he became a benched option for the Gunners.

So a move away for Nelson would be good as he would get much more minutes while playing for Fulham.

As stated earlier Arsenal do not see Nelson as a future prospect but selling him without finding a replacement would be risky.

Up to this point, there have been no concrete discussions going on for the Gunners regarding new forwards. But fans have been demanding a new striker since the start of the window and this departure could raise the chances of that.

Arsenal have already had a great transfer window till now including the signings of Euro stars Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

The Gunners have also managed to sell Aaron Ramsdele to Southampton for £25 million and loaned out Fabio Vieira to FC Porto.

Now the signing of a new attacker depends on the exit of Reiss Nelson as that can help them gain some economic strength .
