Gunner legend Edu Gaspar resigned from the role of Arsenal’s Sporting Director. The club have announced through an official statement last week. Edu has finally left the club after 5 years of service as a non-athlete member.
The 46-year-old was a part of the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ squad back in 2003-04 season. He returned at the Emirates after 14 years in 2019. At first he was assigned as a Technical Director. But with his hard work, passion and dedication he became the Sporting Director of the club in 2022.
But now Edu has decided to leave the Emirates for the second time. As he wants to fulfill his dream of becoming a Global Head in football. The Brazilian has left them to join the Evangelos Marinakis Group. They are already the owners of 3 football clubs- Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos & Rio Ave. It is reported that, Edu has been offered three times of the salary that he earned at the English top flight.
Arsenal considering to replace Edu with Thiago Scuro
While Edu is gone, the Gunners will be looking to fill up the vacay role asap. And it seems that they have already found their man. As per the reports of Metro Sport, Arsenal are really interested to bring in Thiago Scuro as a Sporting Director.
Thiago Scuro has done very well as the Director of Football in AS Monaco in the the last 1 and a half year. As per reports he has a organization centered mindset, where he puts the club first at any costs. But his relations with the players and other non-coaching staffs had also been great at the French side.
Since Thiago Scuro arrived at Monaco last year, the club have managed to perform consistently. They have also found themselves back as a tough European contender. If Arsenal does brings in Thiago Scuro to replace the fellow Brazilian, it will be a great deal for them.
