27-year-old star striker Gabriel Jesus may not feature for Arsenal. The Gunners will be facing Man City in the match day 5 of the Premier League. As per wikipedia, the Brazilian joined the London side in 2022 for £45 million. But, he has failed to live up to the hype at the Emirates. Since joining he has managed only 19 goals in 72 appearances. These numbers are not at all good for someone as quality as the 27-year-old. He was very promising in his early days with the London club. But, since then, it has gone all downhill for the Brazilian. Now, there’s a more than likely chance that he may not play against his former club.
The fall of Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal
The striker rose to fame with Man City. Pep even managed to field him as a right-winger. Due to his dribbling abilities, he was quite able to fit into the role. But, injuries have been the major reason of his downfall. He is unavailable most of the times. Therefore, he is mostly in-between games. As a result, we hardly see him playing at his best levels. As per transfermarkt, he had 140 G/A in 236 games for Man City. But, Gabriel Jesus has simply failed to reach anywhere near those levels at Arsenal. In fact, he hasn’t scored since January.
Will the 27-year-old play against City?
We have seen Arteta play Kai Havertz up front. And, the German star has done a great job in the position. He is finding the net more often and able to team-up with his fellow attackers. We have seen Trossard play alongside him in a 4-4-2. As per footballfancast, we might see the same against City. Surprisingly, Arteta did choose to play Gabriel Jesus for Arsenal against Atalanta. But, that may be just to rest Havertz a little bit. So, we feel that is unlikely that the 27-year-old striker will start. But, we may see him making an appearance from the bench.
