Arsenal get narrow lead in Victor Osimhen transfer

Victor Osimhen is very likely to exit Napoli this summer. He wants to join a club which is playing Champions League in 2024/25 season. Napoli finished on 10th position in the Serie A last season. They sacked their manager and now have signed Antonio Conte. Conte wants to sign Romelu Lukaku and is backed by the club. Chelsea are ready to sell Lukaku if their expectations are met. It was reported that Chelsea are willing to sign Osimhen in exchange of Lukaku. However, according to recent transfer news, Arsenal seem to receive a narrow lead in the race to sign Osimhen.

Osimhen likely to be sold by Napoli

Napoli have made Antonio Conte their new manager. Conte only wants Romelu Lukaku. He is very close with the player and trusts him. In addition, Lukaku also wants to join him at Napoli. The duo were together at Inter where they won Serie A title. Chelsea are ready to sell Lukaku after sending him on loan moves last two seasons.

Currently Victor Osimhen is training away from the squad. He is training alone and has not played in any of the pre-season games. It very likely seems to be over between the club and the player. The agent of the player has told that they are not interested in a loan move. Firstly, Osimhen was wanted by many of the Saudi clubs. They are still interested despite facing rejection from the player. However he is giving priority to Premier League clubs followed by Paris Saint-Germain.

Napoli want to sell Osimhen only if his release clause is triggered. Osimhen has £110 million release clause which is proving to be an obstacle in his transfer to Arsenal or any other big club. In addition, Gunner were facing a huge competition from their london rivals Chelsea. However, Chelsea have now backed from the race. This has given Arsenal a very narrow lead and hope to sign Osimhen.

Chelsea exit the race for Osimhen

Chelsea sold their academy player Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid recently. Atletico have now signed Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. Alvarez seems to be the regular starter for Atletico next season. They parted ways with Alvaro Morata who joined AC Milan. Atletico signed Samu Omorodion last year. However he was sent on a loan to Deportivo Alves. Chelsea wanted to sign Omorodion but the deal was reported to have failed.

However, Chelsea are reported to re-entered the race for Omorodion. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are in talks with Atletico for a £43 million deal. They have exited the race to sign Osimhen and now are focused on Omorodion. Omorodion played 34 La Liga matches last season. He scored 8 goals along with giving 1 assist in those matches.

Arsenal to re-enter Osimhen transfer saga

Arsenal were linked with Victor Osimhen before. They want to sign a good striker who can score consistently. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah were only able to score 9 combined goals in the league. This costed Gunners the league title. Gunners are ready to sell Nketiah this summer and earn some profit. They were linked with Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres earlier. However, the demanded price turned out to be a big setoff in both cases.

Now, Chelsea are out of the Osimhen deal. The players wants to leave the club and is not interested to join Saudi clubs. Hence, it will help Arsenal to negotiate with Napoli for a price less than £110 million. However, PSG are ready to pay the price. They want to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe left the club for free and joined Real Madrid. Earlier, Osimhen said that he would like to join Arsenal this summer. It would be interesting to how his tranfer saga ends. The transfer market will end on 30th August at 11 pm UK time.
