Arsenal gets three players from Olympique Lyon during the spring Mercato

Lyon could recoup more than €80 million in a package sold to Arsenal. Arsenal is going through another difficult season in the Premier League and Europe. A sad result that forces a renewal of the Gunners’ squad.

Lyon will be active in the next transfer market, both in terms of arrivals and leaving. The transactions between Arsenal and Olympique Lyonnais are starting again. After selling Alexandre Lacazette to the Gunners in 2017, the exchanges could be repeated between the two clubs.

In addition, these three players will represent a large sum for the club of Lyon, which faces difficulties due to Covid. In need of renewal, Arsenal would look at Moussa Dembélé. But Arsenal will not stop there, the club also wants to sign Joachim Andersen and Houssem Aouar.

The pairing Dembélé and Anderson from Lyon :

Moussa Dembélé is on loan with an option to buy €35 million to Atletico Madrid. An option that Atletico should not take up. In contract until 2023 with Olympique Lyonnais, the Frenchman should return home before perhaps joining England. Arsenal is interested in bringing a little more consistency in its attacking game. Moussa Dembélé is estimated at €30 million by his president.

On his side, Joachim Andersen could stay in London after his experience on loan at Fulham. The player would be the perfect replacement for David Luiz, at the end of his contract with the London club. The Dane is valued at €25 million by Lyon.

Arsenal is set to fight it out with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Lyon loanee Joachim Andersen. Tottenham is “in pole position” but Arsenal is “ready to compete” for the Danish International’s signature, who is widely expected to leave France this summer. One thing that could play in the North London clubs’ favor is Lyon’s failure to qualify for the Champions League: they currently sit one point outside the qualification spots with just two fixtures to play.

Lyon Star Houssem Aouar a target for Arsenal :

After having highly wanted him last year, Arsenal is again thinking of acquiring the services of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar. It has been a largely indifferent campaign for the French midfielder, who has found himself in and out of the Lyon side. In his 28 appearances, he has registered six goals and three assists however, three more goal contributions than he managed in all of the 2019/20 season.

Aouar is keen to leave this summer and Lyon may drop their asking price for the silky midfielder to around €35 million.

Outspoken Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, gave an update on Aouar’s situation and seemed more willing than in previous seasons to let him leave the French giants.

“If he wishes to leave, we will try to accompany him, as we have done for many years. Afterwards, if the offers do not correspond to what we want, he will stay in Lyon and we will be very happy.”
