Arsenal made an offer worth around €20 million to sign one Barcelona star in January. But, the Spanish giants turned down the offer from to keep the hold of the player.
Gunners ended the January transfer window without making any new signings. They offered £40 million to sign Ollie Watkins but their offer was turned down. Now, it is been reported that Gunners had another offer being turned down by Spanish giants.
Arsenal had failed attempt to land Barca star in January
El Nacional have reported that Gunners offered €20 million to sign Ferran Torres in this window. However, Barcelona turned down the offer due to multiple reasons. Along with Gunners, there was interest from AC Milan, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund too.
Torres could have been a very good addition to Arsenal squad. Mikel Arteta could have used him anywhere in the attacking line. In addition, he also has Premier League experience which would have made him key player in the squad.
Torres is still only 24 years old and can be looked upon as long-term investment. There may be a chance to sign him in sumner window due to Barca’s financial status. But, the Spanish giants will surely demand more than €20 million.
Torres is having a very good season right now. He has 10 goals and 3 assists in 25 games so far. However, he is still not the regular starter and hence this may result in him moving away in summer. Hansi Flick prefers other options over him who are surely having a much better season than Ferran Torres.
It will be interesting to see if Gunners still retain their interest in Torres. They have many other targets on their radar which means that the door to enter the Emirates stadium is closed for Torres. However, anything can happen in football.
