Arsenal have a clear vision ahead of the winter transfer window

arsenal

Though the summer transfer window ended almost two weeks ago, all the clubs will be preparing for the winter transfer window in January. For Arsenal they will be definitely looking for a striker ahead of the next window.

Currently Kai Havertz is playing in that center forward position, who have done well in the past season. But the German is not an out-and-out striker. He is a very versatile player who can play at different positions. But expecting him to score 25-30 goals a season will be too harsh on him.

Moreover, after a string of injuries in the Gunners camp, they are also facing a midfield crisis now. In Arsenal’s midfield there are two players in the wrong side of their 30’s- Jorginho & Partey. So they will be also looking for some young midfielders to replace them in the near future.

In the past couple of seasons City has snatched away the Premier League title from the Gunners in very small margins. Therefore the Gunners knows how much important every result is as it can be the title deciding factor. So, to fight for the titles along with the likes of Man City and Liverpool, the Gunners would need to bring in a new striker, who can be relied upon to score regularly. And also a midfielder to fill up their midfield draught.

Arsenal will be facing a long season as they will be competing in 5 different competitions. So they would like to add more attacking threat to increase their squad depth. Arteta’s side will be hungry for those silverwares.

The Gunners potential targets this winter

Arsenal had a fairly good summer transfer window this season. They signed Euro stars Mikel Merino from Spain and Riccardo Calafiori from Italy. The Gunners also signed David Raya on a permanent transfer from Brentford. Later on they signed Raheem Sterling and Neto on a season long loan deal in the last hours of the transfer window. They almost spent £91m in the 2024-25 summer transfer window.

Even though the Gunners are ready for their next actions in January. Recently a poll from Fotball.London revealed that 90% of the Arsenal supporters feels the attack needs to be strengthen. Another poll revealed that though majority of the fans(53%) were happy with the summer window but some were still not content(29%).

As per reports the Gunners are interested in top strikers around the globe. The list includes-

Benjamin Sesko– Sesko is a Slovenian professional who currently plays for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. He is just 21 years old but have a great scoring record. Sesko is one of the top priority option for the Gunners.

Viktor Gyokeres– Gyokeres is a Swedish professional who currently plays for Sporting CP in the Portuguese league. He is considered as one of the best strikers in the world right now. The 26 year old has been on fire as he have more than 50 goal contributions since joining Sporting last year. Arsenal were heavily linked with the Swedish this summer, so they will be ready to place a bid for him in January.

The list includes more quality strikers like- Sweden’s Alexander Isak who had a great last season with Newcastle. French international Marcus Thuram from Inter, Aston Villa‘s Ollie Watkins and Lille‘s Jonathan David.

However, all of these big names have a big release clause. There seems no outgoings from the Gunners camp in the next window, so they have to pay over the odds to strike a deal. The Gunners are linked with Spanish u-21 international Javi Guerra from Valencia to fill up the midfield crisis. Free agent Adrien Rabiot can also join Arsenal as he is still exploring his options.
