Arsenal have scouts placed on £40 million costing Italian star

Arsenal have scouts placed on Italian star who can cost around £40 million. Along with Gunners, French giants PSG are also showing interest.

The star in question here is Italian keeper Marco Carnesecchi. He is 24 years old and plays for Atalanta. He has started this season in superb fashion. Carnesecchi has played 23 games for Atalanta in all competitions and kept 9 clean sheets.

Arsenal keeping close tabs on Carnesecchi

According to Calciomercato, Gunners are viewing the Atalanta keeper as transfer target. Atalanta are prepared to sell the 24 year old in summer and the keeper can cost around £40 million.

The North London club is keen to add another keeper to their squad. Aaron Ramsdale left in summer which resulted in Gunners needing to enter the market for backup keeper.

Arsenal were keen to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol. However, they were unable to agree with the Spanish club on transfer fee. This resulted in them signing Neto on loan from Bournemouth.

Neto will leave the club at the end of the season. Gunners will then need to sign another keeper as backup for Raya. Carnesecchi can be a great option to go after in the summer window.

However, it will depend on what the board thinks about the transfer fee. They opted not to sign Garcia only because they will unwilling to trigger his £25 million release clause. Hence, the Italian’s transfer fee will play a major role in potential deal.

Carnesecchi not short of options

The reports also state that one unnamed Premier League club made approach in summer to sign Carnesecchi. That club may once again enter the market after being impressed with the player’s top performances this season.

Lastly, French champions PSG are also keeping close eye on Italian shot stopper. They also don’t have proper backup for their main keeper Donnarumma. This suggests that the Carnesecchi transfer saga in summer will be worth watching.
