Arsenal are planning to make a move for Arda Guler. Guler is currently struggling for game time at Real Madrid. Gunners can repeat the move of Martin Odegaard who is now their club captain.
Arda Guler joined Real Madrid last year from Fenerbahce. He was unlucky to get injured quickly after moving to Spain. This postponed his debut for the Spanish giants.
After making a return from injury, Guler was able to display his top quality. He played 10 La Liga games last season and scored 6 goals in those. Later he impressed everyone with his performances for Turkey in Euro 2024.
This season, everyone expected that Guler will get more playing time. But, it has not been the case as the Turkish is struggling to get into the starting lineup. This may result in Guler waving goodbye to Santiago Bernabeu next year.
Arsenal linked with Arda Guler
As per Fichajes, Gunners are looking to repeat the Martin Odegaard deal. They are in desperate need to sign attacking players. This season, Mikel Arteta has felt a need to improve his attacking department due to injuries.
Guler plays as an attacking midfielder but can also operate on wing. He can be a quality backup for Odegaard and Saka. He can even compete with Marinelli for the starting position.
Madrid still view Guler as a very inportant player for the future. He is still 19 years old and hence can get many chances to display his quality at Santiago Bernabeu. But, interest from other top clubs can lure him away as they can guarantee him regular game time.
Madrid have Guler tied down with contract running until 2029. They will surely demand a very heavy fee from any of the interested clubs. Hence, it will not be easy for Arsenal to sign the 19 year old this January.
Gunners can opt to sign Guler on loan in January. They did the same with Odegaard and Ceballos. Both players had good time at North London and one was handed a permanent contract. So, Mikel Arteta may try to repeate this but it will highly depend on what Guler and Madrid think of this situation.
