Arsenal are in advanced stage to complete the signing of Spanish star. They have been linked with the player since a very long time. The pursuit seems to finally come to an end in summer window.
Gunners are set for a busy summer window. Mikel Arteta wants to improve many areas in order to win the Premier League title. The transfer activity is getting fast recently and the deals are expected to get done once Andrea Berta takes over as new sporting director.
Arsenal have attacking reinforcements as the top priority for summer. But, they need urgent additions in midfield too. As of now, both Thomas Partey and Jorginho are set to leave for free in summer. This will require a proper replacement.
Gunners tried to sign Martin Zubimendi last summer. But, the player wanted to stay in Spain and hence rejected the offer. The North London side then opted to sign his teammate Mikel Merino. But, they still have Zubimendi on their radar.
Arsenal in pole position to land Zubimendi
It is now said that Zubimendi is prepared to move away this summer. According to David Ornstein via Caught Offside, Gunners are in advanced talks to sign Martin Zubimendi. He also said that Arsenal are confident to sign him in summer.
Zubimendi is 25 years old and regular starter for Real Sociedad. The Spanish club is aware of player’s quality and demand in market. They will surely ask for Zubimendi’s €60 million release clause to be paid fully.
Zubimendi can be a great addition to Arsenal squad. He will be perfect replacement for Partey or Jorginho. In addition, he can even play in higher parts of pitch when required. Gunners may also opt to sign one more midfield player. They are linked with Bruno Guimaraes but it can prove tricky to sign him. Lastly, they also have young talent – Sverre Nypan on their radar.
