Arsenal are in advanced talks with former Atletico Madrid man. They want him to join the North London club as a new sporting director of the club.
Arsenal are still in hunt for a new sporting director. Earlier Edu Gasper who was their first ever director left them to join a group of clubs owner by Evangelos Marinakis. Ever since that Jason Ayto has stepped up to fill in his position.
Gunners are now keen to appoint a new director before the summer window. They are linked with many big names across whole Europe. However, one former Atletico man is now said to be the favourite to replace Edu.
Arsenal in advanced talks with Andrea Berta
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Gunners are in advanced talks with Berta. He added that the Italian is top candidate to replace Edu. Despite discussion already done, the deal is not yet sealed or finalized.
Berta has a lot of experience at the top level of football. He joined Atletico in 2017 and has built a very good squad. He has done some remarkables signings out of which some are still at the club whereas some are sold at high prices.

Berta has signed some world-class players in his time at Spanish capital. Firstly he signed Rodri for €20 million who is now one of the best midfielders in the world. Later, he was sold for €75 million.
Berta then signed Thomas Lemar for €72 million. He also signed Kieran Tripper for €22 million and then broke the bank to secure Joao Felix. The Portugese costed Atletico €127 million.
Berta was then able to sign Luis Suarez for only €9 million who then helped Atletico to win La Liga. He also signed Matheus Cunha for €35 million who was later sold for around €54 million.
Last summer Berta made two key signings from English soil. He signed Conor Gallagher for €42 million. Lastly, he was able to sign Julian Alvarez for €75 million who has already scored 21 goals for Atletico so far.
