Arsenal are in contact with Italian club to sign their 25 year old superstar. But, they face strong competition from their English rivals Manchester United.
The star in question here is Mateo Retegui of Atalanta. The 25 year old has been in superb form this season. He has scored 23 goals and picked 4 assists in 35 games this season. In addition, he is now a regular player for Italy national team.
Retegui has proved himself on the highest stage of football and hence attracted interest from top clubs. Atalanta will want to keep him for longer duration but they may have to sanction his sale if the player himself pushes for the move.

According to CaughtOffside, Gunners are in contact with Atalanta to sign Mateo Retegui this summer. But, they are facing strong competition from their Premier League rivals Man United.
Gunners are surely going to sign a striker this summer. They have plenty big names linked with them at the moment. It is also said that they may actually sign two strikers. Retegui can be a great addition to the club as he will cost them less than their priority targets – Sesko and Isak.
On the other hand, Man United are planning for a major shakeup this summer. Both Hojlund and Zirkzee are said to get sold and a new face in number nine position is set to arrive. As of now, they have Gyokeres on their radar but the player wants to play regularly in UCL. This may result in the deal getting ended in failure.
It will be interesting to see what Retegui thinks of the situation. He may opt to stay at Atalanta and continue his fine form. But if he does decided to leave, Atalanta will demand a heavy transfer fee.
