Arsenal join the race to sign 28 year old Italian maestro

Arsenal have joined the race to sign 28 year old Italian maestro. They will be in need to sign some midfielders due to the current situation at the club. The Italian star is open to move away from his current club.

The star in question here is Lorenzo Pellegrini. Pellegrini has been with AS Roma for most of his career. He joined Sassuolo for 2 seasons in between but has been main player for Roma since a very long time.

Pellegrini has played more than 300 games for Roma and is their club captain too. However, he is now linked with exit and has only 18 months left on his current contract. Roma are open to let the Italy international leave and 2 Italian clubs are already showing interest.

Arsenal join the race to sign Lorenzo Pellegrini

According to La Repubblica, Gunners have joined the race to sign Roma captain Pellegrini. The 28 year old is also looked upon by Inter Milan and Napoli. Infact, Inter were recently said to be the favourites to land him.

Arsenal will need to sign some quality midfielders very soon. Firstly, their regular starter Thomas Partey will be out of contract at the end of the season. There are no reports yet about his extension and hence he can leave for free.

Along with Partey, his midfield partner Jorginho will also be out of contract at the end of the season. Jorginho was recently linked with Palmeiras. The North London club may part ways with him this month itself to earn some profit.

The departure of both Partey and Jorginho will open up huge space in midfield. Lorenzo Pellegrini usually plays as central midfielder but he can also feature as attacking midfielder and holding midfielder. This will make him a key asset for Mikel Arteta.
