Arsenal now lead Man United in the race to sign Leroy Sane. It is because the relationship between the Bayern winger and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
Sky Germany have reported that Leroy Sane is looking to make a move back to England. The former Man City winger will be out of his current contract in the next summer. There are no talks about contract extension due to some issues.
Sane wants the same salary (£320,000 per weak) he earns now in his new contract. But Bayern are unwilling to offer that and want the player to accept pay cut. It is because Sane is not a regular starter now ever since Michael Olise joined the club.
The German winger is still only 28 years old and has a lot to offer. He has also proved himself in England by helping City win two league titles in three years. This makes him a top target for both Man United and Arsenal who are keen to improve their attack.
Arsenal have lead over Man United in signing Sane
Leroy Sane has already worked with the Arsenal boss earlier. It was when both of them were at Man City. The German winger loves the Spanish coach as has talked very nicely about him. This relationship between them can help Gunners lure the quality winger to the Emirates.
“It was great. I was pleased to work with him because he actually helped me at City. We had a lot of individual talks about how I can improve, strengths, my weaknesses, we worked a lot” – Sane speaking about his time with Arteta.
“I made huge improvements under him, he gave that to me. I still keep that in my mind and put that in my game – positioning, how to behave in certain positions. I’m thankful” – Sane admiring Arteta.
Gunners are struggling in their attacking department right now and hence will love to add a quality winger like Sane. In addition, they can even sign him for free and use the money remaining to sign a clinical striker.
While Mikel Arteta will love to turn this dream into reality, Bayern are keen to offload the winger in January itself. This may force other clubs to come into the play and hence Gunners may have to spend money or may lose on his signature.
