Arsenal legend Tony Adams has been left frustrated with William Saliba for his display against Man City. In contrast, he was full of praise for Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arsenal thrash Man City at their home
Gunners registed a superb victory in Premier League by thrashing City 5-1 at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta had the upper hand over his tutor Pep Guardiola. All of the five goals of Arsenal were scored by five different players.
Firstly, it was Odegaard who opened by scoring in just 100 seconds. Later in second half, Haaland levelled the score but quickly after that Partey regained the lead for Gunners. He was then followed by Lewis-Skelly, Havertz and Nwaneri.
Tony Adams frustrated with William Saliba’s defending
Arsenal’s legendary defender and former captain was very happy while watching his club recording a superb victory. But, at the same time he highlighted certain issues from their side. He thinks that Saliba should have done a lot better when it came to defending.
Haaland scored the only goal for City which came in second half. He rose above Saliba to head the ball in the back of the net. Adams feels that Saliba could have prevented the Norwegian striker from scoring.
“I was really disappointed with Saliba and the way he marked him. Ball in play, he got too tight with the guy. He should have gotten in front of him. He’ll be kicking himself in there, and we’ve got to learn from that” – Tony Adams speaking to Premier League productions.
In contrast to Saliba, Adams was full of praise for Gabriel. He admired the physical battle between Gabriel and Haaland throughout the game. Gabriel took his revenge against Haaland from their last head to head fixture at Etihad. Lastly, he said that the Brazilian needs to win the league and then call Haaland to inform about it.
