Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio might just be on his way out of the Spanish capital. The winger has had a tough season at the capital and is open to leaving Madrid for a top club. That top club , as per reports , is Arsenal who are looking to secure the signing of the Spanish winger this summer. Mikel Arteta is known to be a big fan of Asensio and has given the green light to the board to go for him.
Marco Asensio’s last season was mostly spent on the bench as team mate Rodrygo was preferred over him on the wing. With the WC 2022 nearby , Asensio is looking for a club to compete again and have the maximum game time to maintain his form for the tournament in Qatar. Real Madrid also have decided to not offer a new contract to the Spaniard. This feels like a surprise as Asensio ,despite now playing much , ended as the third top scorer for Los Blancos and looked set to continue in Spain.
The current contract of the 26 year old runs out in 12 months and many clubs have come in with offers for him. Arsenal and Ac Milan both have submitted bids for Asensio with the Gunners outdoing the Serie A champions. The premier league side have come in with €40 million offer in response to Milan’s €30 million bid. Arsenal have come out as the more desperate side to get Asensio with no clue of Nicolas Pepe’s future who most likely will be leaving.
Asensio Down The Pecking Order For Ancelotti
It is unknown as to how Asensio , from being a starter , suddenly was not preferred anymore. The winger still scored clutch goals despite Rodrygo and Valverde preferred over him. With uncertainty over Pepe’s future , Arteta will be pushing for Asensio and trying to lure him to the Emirates. Arteta’s playing tactics requires a wide attacker with pace and dribbling not to mention Asensio has lethal finishing also.
But they will have to fight off competition from AC Milan who are also looking to strengthen their squad. At this moment , if negotiations will be calm , Arsenal may just snatch Asensio with a better overall offer and a higher bid to Real Madrid. One thing is sure , Asensio does not seem to have a future anymore at Real Madrid.
