Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares is playing the best football of his career away from the Emirates. The Gunners signed Nuno as they believed he was one of the most talented young player at that time. Many top European clubs wanted the Portuguese.
But Arsenal managed to sign the full-back in 2021 from the Portuguese giants Benfica. The then 21-year-old Nuno costed the Gunners around £8 million. They signed him as a back-up option in the left-back position and wanted to develop Nuno into a important player for the future.
However, things didn’t go according to the plan of the Gunners. Since joining them Nuno struggled to impress the club with his performances. He also didn’t get enough minutes to improve his game. That is why, after staying the first season, he left the Gunners camp to join the French side Marseille on loan in 2022.
After a decent season in Ligue 1, Nuno rejoined the Arsenal camp. But eventually left them to join Premier League side Nottingham Forest last season on loan. But his loan spell with the Forests wasn’t ideal. So, the Gunners management decided not to include Nuno into their plans this season also and sent him on loan again to the Italian side Lazio.

However, since joining Lazio Nuno Tavares has been on another level. He has been one of the best players in his position in the top 5 league’s across Europe this season. In 9 league games the Portuguese has provided 8 assists, which is just unbelievable. As per WhoScored, Nuno has an average rating of 7.5 for his club this season.
Due to his performances at the club level, Nuno has managed to earn his first national team call-up this month. His stay at Lazio so far this season, has proved that Nuno Tavares is a player who can compete at the highest level. If Nuno continues his top form till the end of the season, then it will be interesting to see what happens with his future at Arsenal.
