Arsenal needs new players to fulfill the dream of lifting the Premier League trophy again next season. Barca defender Jules Kounde could just well be in the mix.
Evidently, in history, Arsenal has lost out many of its players due to financial troubles to the La Liga giants Barcelona. Whether it be the likes of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, and Alexis Alejandro the Gunners side is used to losing players out to Barca.
But the times have changed now in 2024. Under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, the North London side is in a strong financial position ready to acquire new players.
Since the move to the Emirates stadium, Arsene Wenger was at times helpless fearing to lose his best players. Times, however, have changed and the Gunners can look forward to a better future.
Anyways, it has become clear that Arsenal is looking forward to signing Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. Although the signing still looks more like a fantasy, some positives may be looking the Gunners way.
Kounde is a proven performer for Barca and right now is showing his valor in the Euros with France. So, one thing is for sure the Catalan club won’t want to lose him. However, the financial worries that have been traumatizing the club could play an important role.
A new report from Sport indicates that the signing might just be very much possible for Arsenal. The report shows that Kounde might be arriving in London if things went right for at least £51m.
Barcelona might sell Kounde to Arsenal but on one condition
Barcelona is currently surviving a ‘delicate economic situation’ with no getting out of it as it seems. The Spanish side would want to find the solution by this summer in hopes of restoring the glory.
As it stands, Barca only keeps six players off limits for other teams and the transfer market. These include the likes of Lamine Yamal, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, and Fermin.
All other players including the defender Jules Kounde are very much on the market – something Arsenal would love to hear.
However, for the deal to ever go off and for Kounde to arrive at the Emirates, it all depends on Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan has been in the mix of the Barca team for quite a while now and his future at the Catalan club could very well decide the future of Kounde.
Currently, if Araujo stays at Barca, Arsenal could go forward to grab the French defender. However, if the Uruguayan were to leave the side then the Emirates would have to look somewhere else.
Barca has already made clear to Arsenal that the French defender won’t be leaving the side for anything below €60m. And if you look at this, seems a reasonable price given his current form and age.
Moreover, this move is set to suit Arsenal too. Arteta could very well place the defensive line now keeping William Saliba to center back and Ben White to the right back.
And regardless of Saliba’s impressive performance at the Euro 2024, Kounde can’t be underestimated anyway.
