Arsenal are still leading the race for the signing of Spanish star in summer. Barcelona are also willing to sign him but the North London seems like the next destination for the player.
Gunners are set for a busy summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta has learned the importance of squad depth this season. He is willing to bring in new players in almost all areas of the field which suggests there will be a log of new faces at the Emirates.
As of now, attacking players are the top priority of the club. They want to sign a striker and a winger. In addition, they are also in need of new midfielders along with some defensive players. Lastly, Arteta will need a backup keeper as well.
Gunners parted ways with Aaron Ramsdale last summer. This forced them to go in market for another keeper. They wanted to sign Joan Garcia but the deal failed. Hence, thry opted to sign Neto on loan who is set to leave this summer.
Arsenal made €25 million offer to sign Garcia last summer. Espanyol rejected the offer as they wanted his €30 million release clause to be paid fully. In addition, they had very little time to replace Garcia but can now opt to let him leave.
Arsenal still leading the race for Joan Garcia
According to Cadena Ser, Gunners are still leading the race for Garcia. Barcelona are also willing to sign the Spanish keeper but are finding themselves behind the North London club.
The report also stated that Garcia’s release clause will increase by €5 million if he makes debut for Spain national team. In contrast it will be reduced if Espanyol are relegated this season.
Garcia will be a good addition to Arsenal squad. He is 23 years old and can be a great backup for David Raya. He can be looked upon as long-term investment. This season he has made 95 saves in 26 La Liga games.
