Arsenal make their intentions clear about Kieran Tierney

Arsenal have made their intentions clear about Kieran Tierney. The Scotland international is heavily linked with a move away from North London. The club has taken a important decision about his future.

Tierney joined Gunners in 2019 from Celtic. He was then main player for the club for 4 straight years. But later, the 27 year old started to fall down the pecking order. This resulted in him joining Real Sociedad last year on loan.

Gunners wanted to part ways with Tierney this summer. But, they were unable to do so due to the player’s injury. This forced the Scotland international to sit on bench until yesterday where he was handed his first ever start of the season.

Is Kieran Tierney leaving Arsenal?

Journalist David Ornstein has recently tweeted that Arsenal will not trigger the one year extension clause in Tierney’s contract. The 27 year old will have his contract expired at the end of the season.

This means that Tierney will end his career at Arsenal in 2025. He can hold talks with foreign clubs in January and the club can even part ways with him in winter. If not, he will surely leave at the end of the season.

How good was Tierney yesterday?

Tierney played his first game of the season yesterday against Crystal Palace. He started as left back and played 69 minutes. The 27 year old looked really good and achieved some good stats.

Firstly, he had 81% passing accuracy and created 1 big chance. He had 63 touches out of which 2 were in opposition box. He had 9 passes in final third along with 2 accurate crosses.

The 27 year old was also good when it came to defending. He made 1 tackle, 1 clearance, 1 interception and 3 recoveries. Lastly, he won 100% ground duels and 100% ariel duels. All stats are as per FOTMOB.
