Looks like the title dream of Arsenal is in shatters again this season. They failed to win the silverware last time even after staying at the top for 248 days. Gunners bottled their lead in the latter part of the season and Man City took full advantage of that.
It have got even worse for Arsenal this season. It’s only the match week 12 of the campaign, long way before the mid season and the Gunners are already 9 points behind the league toppers Liverpool. Arsenal are currently standing at the 4th spot of the table. Winning only 6 of their 12 games, drawing in 4 & loosing in 2 occasions.
At this point it seems they are competing more for the top 4 spot rather than the title. The Gunners are on the same page with Chelsea (3rd) and Brighton (5th) with 22 points on their names. Just ahead of them are the Citizens with 23 points standing at the 2nd spot.
Can Arsenal do the undoable?
Liverpool have a 8 point lead at the top and they look unstoppable under new manager Arne Slot. As per the reports of Football.London only 3 times a club have ever led the table by 8 points at this stage of the league. And all they have gone on to win the title in every occasion. So, it almost looks impossible for Arsenal to win the title this season.
However, a certain someone once said, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. The season is too long and every club is yet to play 25+ games from December to the middle of May.
The only thing Mikel Arteta and his men can focus on is to give their best and win all the remaining games. City are down on confidence as they have lost all of their last 5 games across all competitions. Chelsea are still a side in progress and they will drop some points eventually.
But if fate is with Arsenal, wonders can happen. And who knows if Liverpool struggles mid season and looses their confidence. No matter what, it will be a interesting next 6 and a half month.
