A recent video posted by Arsenal over their social media accounts have provided huge boost regarding Martin Odegaard injury news.
The Arsenal captain has been sidelined since he was injured during the previous international break in September. Odegaard suffered a serious injury to his ankle ligament and was subject to rest for at least three to four weeks. Anyway, there is still no official return date announced yet by both the club and the player. The recent video posted by Arsenal showed Odegaard back on his feet and continuing his rehab. So, seeing him back on both feet is going to give some boost to Arsenal fans and the team some boost as they are again subject to some tough fixtures.
ODEGAARD INJURY UPDATE
Martin Odegaard sustained an ankle ligament injury during September 2024. The midfielder was with his national team side Norway at that time. In the match against Austria at Oslo a tough tackle from Austrian forward Christoph Baumgartner sent the Norwegian captain hit the ground screaming. The midfielder was clearly in pain and was quickly subbed off. The Gunners captain then quickly returned back to London for further assessment. After that it was revealed that he had a swelling in his ankle and it was a ligament injury. Anyway it was not severe but enough to keep him out for a significant period of time.
Both managers Mikel Arteta and Stale Solbakken have not clearly given a positive statement on the injury yet. Solbakken confirmed that Odegaard is still far from being ready to return and was left out for the October international break. Arsenal hope that their captain returns after the international break as they have some tough fixtures coming up. The Gunners are going to face league leaders Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Inter Milan in the two weeks after the break.
WHAT WAS IN THE VIDEO?
As you can see the video which was posted by Arsenal on their official social media handles shows Martin Odegaard back on his feet. This means the swelling on his ankles might have reduced. He was seen training on an anti-gravity treadmill. Arsenal have been using such treadmills when their players are recovering from injuries. These types of treadmills will help the players running on it to reduce the pressure on their joints and bones.
Odegaard, who is recovering from a ligament injury in his ankle, can run on the anti-gravity treadmill which will reduce the pressure on his injured ankle. Anyway this is clearly a positive sign towards the comeback of the Arsenal captain. Still he hasn’t trained with the first team which is far away as it seems. As of now he is unable to put excess pressure on his injured ankle so he can’t train with his teammates which will be intense.
According to the Standard, Martin Odegaard himself gave an update on his injury. The Norwegian said “In the last week or so I’ve made really good progress. I’m getting better and better by the day and feel it’s going well. When you feel like things are moving forward, it gives you motivation to do more and more and work harder.”
