The Gunners put on a staggering performance over the 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest last weekend. It was a must win home game for Arsenal. As they headed into the International break after some disappointing performances earlier this month.
It was never a easy game as Nottingham Forest are on some form this season, standing at the 7th place in the league table. However the players put on a valiant effort that resulted to three points and secured the top 4 place for now.
Odegaard & Saka’s synergy lit up the Emirates
Martin Odegaard is back to his basics after being sidelined for almost 3 months. We all can see the difference on the pitch in his presence. And yet again he stood up in a vital game last Sunday. Not only the Norwegian dominated the midfield but also was top class while moving forward to attack.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s Starboy Bukayo Saka was just as good as he is in every other game. To watch his link-up play with Odegaard was a treat for the eyes. The Duo dominated the game from the right flank. Saka scored the opening goal in the 15th minute which was set up by none other than captain Odeegard.
More positive signs for Arsenal
The whole team did some great job in the game. Though the goalkeeper David Raya wasn’t at all tested, the defence looked pretty sharp and alerted throughout the game. Thomas Partey had a brilliant second half coming off the bench to replace Jorginho. He was the one to double up the lead in the 52nd minute.
Mikel Merino played the whole 90 minutes for the first time this season. The Spaniard also looked pretty comfortable. On the other hand, Ethan Nwaneri became the second youngest (17 years and 247 days) ever Arsenal player to score a Premier League goal.
If Arsenal manages to continue this type of performances, it will help Mikel Arteta a lot to achieve his dreams.
