Arsenal receive major boost in the pursuit of Liverpool target

Arsenal have now received a major boost in the pursuit of Liverpool target Martin Zubimendi. The player is now reported to be ready to move away from Real Sociedad and Premier League will very likely be his next destination.

Liverpool were keen to sign Zubimendi this summer. But the player was said to be not willing to leave Spain. This resulted in the failure of deal with Zubimendi staying at Real Sociedad. Later, it was said that the Spaniard is regretting his decision to staying and will be open to move in january.

Now The Independent have reported that Real Sociedad prevented Zubimendi from leaving this summer. It is due to the reason of many big names like Merino and Le Normand leaving. But, the Spanish side had guaranteed the player to be able to leave next year for sure.

Arsenal and Liverpool are still keen to sign the 25 year old. But Gunners have a lead due to the current situation at both clubs. The Reds have started on a strong note and hence will not like to make any changes in their winning formula. They are currently on the top of Premier League.

Ryan Gravenberch (22) and Curtis Jones (21) are playing really well under Arne Slot. Both are very young and hence are viewed as long-term solutions. Even if they sign a new midfielder, he will find it very hard to break into the starting eleven.

On the other hand, Gunners too have a strong squad depth. But two of their midfielder are close to the end of their Arsenal career. Both Jorginho and Thomas Partey are in their final year of contract and as of now there are no news about extension.

Even if Gunners renew their contract, it will be of short-term due to their respective ages. Hence, Zubimendi can prefer joining Arsenal instead of Liverpool as he has more chance to play regularly at The Emirates than at the Anfield.

But, a holding midfielder will surely not be a top priority for Arsenal right now. They will enter the market with an aim of signing attacking players. As of now they are keen to sign a striker and a winger.
